Client Operations Associate

Burney Wealth Management
Brentwood, TN

Founded in 1974, Burney Wealth Management is a nationally recognized, CNBC FA 100 firm helping 1,000+ families across the country with financial planning, tax planning, retirement planning, and investment management. Burney Tax Advisors is our in-house tax practice, built to serve the same high-net-worth clients with the same level of care. We are a people-centric firm focused on building lasting relationships with our clients and employees, and pride ourselves in providing clear career paths across the firm.

At Burney Tax Advisors, we believe the client experience is just as important as the tax strategy itself. Our Client Operations Associate is often the first impression a client has of the tax practice — and we take that seriously. This is an entry-level role with real responsibility, a clear career path, and the opportunity to grow inside one of the most integrated wealth management and tax advisory firms in the country. If you’re early in your career, love bringing order to complexity, and care about doing right by clients, we’d love to talk.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Tax & Client Operations Associate to be the operational and client-facing backbone of Burney Tax Advisors in Nashville. You’ll own the workflows and client touchpoints that keep everything running smoothly, and you’ll work side-by-side with our tax advisors and wealth advisory team every day. We’re also actively investing in AI and automation tools to modernize how the practice runs, and we want someone who gets excited about learning and leveraging new technology.

This role is based in our Brentwood,TN office. We promote from within and have a strong track record of developing early-career people into senior roles. Depending on where your interests take you, this role can grow in several directions.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the tax preparation and planning process, guiding them from document collection through return delivery.
  • Manage and prioritize the workflow queue so the tax team is always focused on the highest-impact tasks.
  • Handle client onboarding, document management, and portal communications, making sure nothing slips through the cracks.
  • Coordinate internally between our tax advisors and the Burney Wealth advisory team to keep client engagements running smoothly.
  • Learn and leverage AI and practice management tools to improve how the team works and bring ideas when you spot a better way.
  • Diligently document client interactions and maintain our CRM so the team always has a clear picture of where things stand.

Where This Role Can Take You?

This role sits at the intersection of tax, operations, and wealth advisory — which means the exposure is unusually broad for an entry-level seat. Depending on where your strengths and interests take you, we see three natural paths forward:

  • Tax Advisor. Working alongside our CPAs every day gives you real exposure to tax planning concepts, client situations, and the advisory process. For someone who wants to pursue a CPA or EA designation, this is a meaningful accelerant.
  • Director of Operations. If you have a talent for process, systems, and making the machine run better, there is a clear path into a senior operations leadership role as the tax practice grows.
  • Wealth Advisory / RIA Practice. Our tax and wealth advisory teams work side by side daily. Associates who develop a passion for the broader financial planning and investment management side of the business have a natural bridge into the Burney Wealth advisory practice.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, accounting, or finance
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in a client-facing, operations, or financial services role
  • A “client first” mindset and the kind of follow-through that makes people feel taken care of
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities without dropping any
  • Curiosity about technology, AI tools, and finding better ways to work
  • A genuine interest in growing inside the firm, not just filling a seat

We also welcome career changers. If your background is outside of financial services but you bring strong organizational skills, a client-first attitude, and a genuine interest in this industry, we’d encourage you to apply.
