Job Description

This Civil Engineer role focuses on the design and development of roadway and highway projects, including grading, drainage, utilities, green infrastructure, and work zone traffic control. You will create detailed civil and highway design plans using industry-standard software, prepare technical documentation, and support multi-disciplinary teams delivering transportation and infrastructure projects across the tri-state area. This position offers the opportunity to work on streets, highways, interchanges, railroad sites, and other significant New York infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway and highway design, including alignment, grading, and drainage for transportation projects.
• Design and coordinate utilities, green infrastructure elements, work zone traffic control, and site layouts for civil and transportation projects.
• Develop civil and highway design plans, profiles, cross-sections, and construction details using engineering software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Use Civil 3D, InRoads, and OpenRoads to model and refine roadway, drainage, and grading designs.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, cost estimates, specifications, and other contract documents in support of project delivery.
• Support multi-disciplinary design development teams, collaborating with architecture, structural, and construction management disciplines to execute projects effectively.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure design quality, constructability, and adherence to applicable standards and client requirements.
• Provide engineering support for other related activities as needed across civil, highway, and transportation design projects.
• Perform additional responsibilities and project tasks as appropriate for the position and project needs.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience working on NYCDOT and NYCDDC civil and highway projects.
• Demonstrated design experience on civil and highway projects, including streets, highways, and related infrastructure.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD for civil and transportation design.
• Experience using Civil 3D or MicroStation for roadway and infrastructure design.
• Hands-on experience with InRoads and OpenRoads for highway and transportation design workflows.
• Strong background in roadway and highway design, including horizontal and vertical geometry.
• Experience with drainage and grading design for transportation and civil infrastructure projects.
• Ability to prepare technical reports, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents.
• Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary design teams and support project execution.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or eligibility is highly desirable.
• Experience with transportation design for streets, highways, interchanges, and railroad-related sites.
• Familiarity with utilities and green infrastructure design within transportation projects.
• Exposure to design and construction management processes for public sector infrastructure projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing documentation and collaborating with project teams.
• Detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a project-driven environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of New York, NY.

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
