Site Civil Engineer (Stormwater & Land Development)

Position Overview

A growing civil engineering and land development consulting firm is seeking a Site Civil Engineer with 2+ years of professional experience specializing in stormwater and drainage design. This role supports a steady pipeline of incoming projects and offers the opportunity to work closely with senior engineers on a variety of land development efforts.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on design experience, strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and a working knowledge of site civil engineering principles. This position provides continued technical growth, increased responsibility, and exposure to multidisciplinary project teams.

Key Responsibilities

Site Civil & Stormwater Design

  • Design and analyze stormwater management and drainage systems for land development projects
  • Prepare site civil plans including grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion and sediment control
  • Support land development projects from conceptual layout through construction documentation
  • Perform engineering calculations and design tasks in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Assist with stormwater reports, drainage studies, and permit submittals

Project Support & Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior engineers to support the execution of active and upcoming projects
  • Coordinate with traffic engineers, landscape architects, planners, and surveyors to support integrated site designs
  • Respond to internal and external review comments and revise plans accordingly
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and design reviews as needed

Technical Production

  • Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3D for preparation of engineering drawings, details, and site layouts
  • Maintain organized design files, calculations, and technical documentation
  • Assist with preparation of exhibits and materials for agency review and approvals

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of professional experience in site civil engineering, land development, or stormwater design

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Experience with stormwater management systems and drainage design
  • Working knowledge of local and state design standards and permitting requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a consulting environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented setting

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mt Kisco, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
