The ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and has a strong grasp of civil engineering methods, tools, and processes. Seeking candidates from Project Engineer to Project Manager levels. Hiring position will be commensurate with experience.


What You’ll Do

  • Perform civil site development tasks including due diligence, preliminary design, quantity take-offs, and estimating to respond to development client’s feasibility and site planning needs.
  • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare site plans, bid packages, and earthwork calculations.
  • Utilize GIS for hydrologic analysis, terrain analysis, and managing municipal infrastructure data.
  • Utilize software, past projects, and industry best practices to efficiently calculate takeoff quantities, engineering cost estimates, and prepare preliminary construction schedules.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to gather project specifications, technical requirements, and relevant information to ensure effective execution of project deliverable.
  • Analyze project risks and uncertainties that could impact costs, collaborating with team members and planning department to identify potential mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid packages, proposals, technical reports, and other deliverables as needed.
  • Offer insights and recommendations on value engineering opportunities to optimize project while maintaining quality standards and constructability.
  • Continuously refine internal processes, tools, and workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes that impact civil engineering.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of projects from kickoff through project closeout.
  • Investigate local, state, and federal regulatory requirements to ensure project compliance.
  • Proactively self-review deliverables and make corrective changes as necessary.
  • Report to Director of Engineering and collaborate with other members on the engineering and planning teams.
  • Support civil engineering projects, from concept planning through construction administration (including site risk assessment, bid package development, and final project closeout).


Job Requirements

  • Working level knowledge and familiarity in using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
  • Proficiency in using ArcGIS applications and spatial processing tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and hydrology (H&H) principles.
  • Knowledge of grading plan design and construction.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and pollution prevention principles for construction or industrial projects.
  • Experience with local, state, and national water permits (NPDES, CGP, Section 404, WOTUS, FEMA).
  • Experience with department of transportation approval and letting processes (IDOT and TXDOT preferred).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment with varying priorities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills with the ability to make necessary assumptions to ambiguous regulatory environments supported by sound engineering judgement.
  • Proven ability to thrive with minimal oversight while timely reporting on progress and completing tasks within deadlines.
  • Strong sense of ownership and personal responsibility for work and deliverables.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent project/time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple long-term projects and immediate tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work well on teams and individually.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, OneNote, Teams, and Outlook.

Education and Certifications

  • 4+ years experience working as a civil engineer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other relevant field required.
  • EIT or PE preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid driver’s license (required).
