CFO role – High-Growth Construction / Infrastructure | Virginia


Our client is a rapidly scaling business operating in the construction space, specializing in mission-critical and large-scale infrastructure projects.

With a current revenue base of approximately $50M and a clear trajectory to exceed $150M+ in the near term, the company is entering a phase of accelerated, organic growth driven by strong demand across data centers, advanced manufacturing, and commercial construction.

As part of this evolution, they are looking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team and play a central role in shaping the company’s next chapter.


The Role

This is a high-impact, hands-on CFO position reporting directly to the CEO, with full ownership of the finance function and a strong mandate to scale the organization alongside the business.

The CFO will lead a team of approximately 5–6 professionals and will act as a true strategic partner to leadership, combining operational execution with forward-looking financial strategy.

This role sits at the heart of a project-driven environment, requiring deep involvement in revenue operations, project finance, and business performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of financial reporting, accounting, and compliance
  • Own and enhance WIP (Work-in-Progress) and Percentage-of-Completion accounting frameworks across active projects
  • Partner closely with operations and project teams to drive margin visibility and project profitability
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial planning
  • Build and scale a best-in-class FP&A function
  • Support strategic initiatives, including M&A, integration, and capital strategy
  • Establish scalable processes, controls, and KPIs aligned with rapid growth
  • Provide executive leadership with forward-looking insights and scenario planning


Profile

We are seeking a high-caliber finance leader who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a strategic, growth-oriented mindset.

Key requirements include:

  • CPA required
  • Deep expertise in WIP / Percentage-of-Completion accounting (required)
  • Background in construction, engineering (EPC), or project-based manufacturing environments
  • 10+ years of progressive experience, including senior leadership roles (VP Finance / CFO)
  • Proven ability to operate in high-growth, scaling environments
  • Strong experience in revenue operations, cash flow management, and project finance
  • Exposure to M&A, due diligence, and integration
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment

Based in Northern Virginia (multiple office locations)
