The Maryland Institute College of Art, the nation’s oldest independent, continuously operating degree-granting college of art and design, invites applications, nominations, and expressions of interest for the position of Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Finance and Administration. Located in Baltimore, MICA prepares creative leaders whose ideas create impact--locally, nationally, and globally. MICA is a member of AICAD (Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design), a consortium of 42 leading art schools and programs in the United States and Canada, and is accredited by MSCHE (Middle States Commission on Higher Education). The ED Budget serves as a conscientious advisor at all levels within the University supported by careful analysis. Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and Finance, the ED Budget administers the budget planning system, ensures the field has the knowledge, tools, and support necessary for sound fiscal management, and models the impact of established and anticipated strategic policy on the use of resources to deliver on mission and meet strategic priorities. The ideal candidate for the University position must hold a Master’s degree, demonstrate a commitment to the institution’s mission and values, and have a proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and managing diverse business functions. They should possess strong negotiation and communication skills, experience in leading diverse teams, improving efficiency through technology, managing security and facilities, and navigating higher education governance and business opportunities at an institution of comparable size and complexity. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate resilience in leading effectively through stress, navigating complexity and institutional challenge.
