The Chief Financial and Business Officer (CFBO) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dana Butler-Moburg, who has led the organization for 28 years. The CFBO acts as a strategic partner to the CEO, Board, and executive leadership team, helping to define the organization’s vision and strategy, and serves as the primary architect of execution, driving alignment and results across finance and accounting, operations, risk management, information technology and human resources. The successful candidate will embody servant leadership, demonstrating unwavering commitment to the mission while acting as a key ambassador who forges strong, collaborative relationships with staff, the board, volunteers, and those the Shea Center serves.

Mission: The Shea Center is dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through therapeutic horse-related programs.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The foundation seeks a visionary leader to step into a pivotal partnership with the Director of CSSSA, guide a dedicated team of three, and collaborate closely with an inspired Board to help shape the Foundation’s next chapter. The organization has just emerged from a meaningful period of transition, and the path ahead is filled with possibility, new clarity, renewed purpose, and the momentum to expand what’s possible for young artists across California.

Its revenue is approximately $1 million a year and it boasts a healthy reserve of approximately $4 million. In the words of Board Member Michael Cannone, “This is a phenomenal opportunity for someone with deep passion for our mission to build upon an already strong foundation of programming and outcomes in the creative arts—all within a city that stands as one of the world’s capitals of arts and entertainment.”

With a strong foundation of programming, longstanding ties to the entertainment industry, and a cherished mission, the new Executive Director will build on the Foundation’s track record of success by strengthening its vision, advancing financial sustainability, expanding community engagement, and enhancing the impact of its programs. They will bring exceptional people skills, a creative spirit, and a demonstrated ability for Board development, communications and marketing strategy and, most importantly, a demonstrated ability to increase fundraising.

Working in close partnership with the CEO, the CDO leads CAP OC’s external presence across the county, Sacramento, and Washington, D.C., shaping the organization’s community engagement, advocacy, marketing, communications, and fundraising efforts. This is a unique moment for an accomplished development and communications executive to join an established, mission-driven organization poised for significant expansion in philanthropic revenue and community impact.
