Under the direction of the Director of Spiritual Care, the Hospital Chaplain provides spiritual care to patients, families and employees fostering spiritual resources for healing.

A caregiver in this position will work part-time, about 4 hours per day (between 8:00am and 4:00pm). This can be flexible and vary. No on-call requirements unless otherwise requested. No weekends required.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide education and consultation for physicians, nurses, and other clinical employees.
  • Conduct spiritual care and counseling for patients, families, and employees.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education
  • Offset: Bachelor's degree, 3 years of ministry experience & satisfactory completion of one (1) or two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education with expectation to get four (4) CPEs within two (2) years of hire
  • One (1) year of ministry experience required
  • Credentialing, certification, or eligibility within two (2) years by a certifying organization or certification as an Association of Clinical Pastor Education (ACPE educator)

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Master's degree of Divinity or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push, and facilitate movement of the patient.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
  • In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
  • In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
