THIS RECRUITMENT IS TO FILL TWO (2) PART-TIME VACANCIES IN THERECREATION & COMMUNITY SERVICESAND TO ESTABLISH AN ELIGIBILITY LIST TO BE USED FOR FUTURE VACANCIES.

THE POSITIONUnder general supervision, the Cashier will be assigned to the Aquatics Division of the Recreation and Community Services Department. This position will utilize great customer service skills to participate in active involvement with the public and will be responsible for the front counter and cashier duties of the Aquatics Center. The incumbent must be willing to learn to accurately and effectively operate a cash register.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a non-benefited, at-will part-time position with working hours to be assigned at the discretion of the Recreation & Community Services Department. Candidates must be able to work all assigned shifts, which may include mornings, afternoons, evening shifts, and/or occasional weekends. Employee shall work up to 20 hours per week, limited up to 960 hours per fiscal year.
The Cashier will be responsible for but not limited to: collecting fees and admissions utilizing the cash register; prepare collections for audit and deposit and keep accurate records; advise patrons of rules and regulations governing the use of the recreational facilities; assist the public by receiving, distributing, and filing a wide variety of materials and payments in accordance with prescribed program procedures; perform light custodial duties in maintenance of recreational areas; assist with activity set-up; and perform other related duties as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITES
  • Knowledge of leadership skills and ability to effectively handle money.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to effectively interact with City staff, volunteer, and the public.
  • Create a “team” environment by maintaining a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn.
  • Provide the public with program and event information; assist with support activities, operations, functions.
  • Ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, and have knowledge of computer programs.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 16 years of age at time of submitting application.
  • No prior experience is necessary; however, familiarity with the City’s Recreation Programs is highly desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possess valid and appropriate CPR certificate and First Aid certificate within 30 days of appointment, issued by a source acceptable to the City.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND HOURS
This position involves the ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. This is a non-benefited, at will part-time position.Applications must be submitted online.
