High school diploma or GED; four years of experience as a journey-level carpenter; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of the principles, methods, materials and tools used in carpentry. Ability to operate hand and power tools of the carpentry trade. Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications. Able to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead, and working in awkward positions without choice or variety. The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.

This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in constructing, maintaining, and repairing wood structures, equipment, furniture and fixtures. General rough and finish carpentry in construction, alteration, repair, and maintenance of wooden structures, buildings, furniture, and other fixtures (e.g. fabricates and installs shelves, counters, cabinets; fits and installs doors, doorframes, interior and exterior trim, and hardware such as locks, door closers and kickplates). Working knowledge of lay-out, metal stud framing, hanging, and finishing drywall partitions. Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment. Performs other work as required.
