A key focus of this position is to help students get degree-related internships in their junior-year summer and high-paying, degree-related jobs on graduation. Secondarily, the position supports establishing, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with community and industry partners. Essential knowledge includes career counseling theory and job search methodology; ability to create, develop, and conduct career education programs focused on technical degree programs; ability to develop strategic alliances with the academic and employment community; an understanding of labor market trends and the legal and ethical issues regarding advising, student records, and employment are critical to success in the position. Written and verbal communication skills, active listening, ability to multitask, and work in a team setting are also required. This role demands a deep understanding of the tech industry and job market, and a passion for helping students overcome academic and professional challenges so that they can be successful on graduation.

 

Opened in 2025 and powered by a University of South Florida record $40 million gift from Arnie and Lauren Bellini, USF’s Bellini College of Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Computing is the first in Florida, and among the first in the nation, to unify AI, cybersecurity, and computing within a single college. More than 65 faculty members focus on cutting-edge research and educating 3,000+ bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students across 15 degree programs in computer science, cybersecurity, AI, information technology, and computer engineering. The college emphasizes industry-relevant education and experiential learning to prepare students for real-world challenges. It also serves as the central hub for AI and cybersecurity research and teaching at USF, collaborating with colleges and units across the university.

Conduct group and individual career advising sessions to support student academic success and career goals. Work to identify and address barriers hindering student progress towards an internship . The ultimate goal is to ensure that all students secure degree-related employment in a company or government agency, or gain acceptance to graduate school, by the time they graduate.

Support upper-level Bellini College students in identifying and pursuing their post-graduation goals. Advise students for job searches by helping them find employment opportunities and providing guidance on resume writing and technical and behavioral interview preparation. In collaboration with academic advisors, this role will offer curricular recommendations aligned with students’ career goals, helping ensure academic choices support post‑graduation plans. This role may also involve coordination with other staff and units on campus, organizing on-campus events with companies and government agencies to connect students with potential employers. This role will entail engaging with student organizations to coordinate company events focused on hiring.

Develops and facilitates career-related workshops, seminars, classroom presentations, online workshops/presentations, programs, and events. These include but are not limited to, self-assessment and exploration, resume, CV, and cover letter writing, internship, and job search strategies, navigating networking, successful interviewing, and graduate school application strategies.

Collaborates with personnel within the Bellini College and beyond to identify, develop, and deepen relationships with employers and alumni to increase student access to opportunities.
