About 1970 Group

1970 Group is a leading specialty risk financing firm, backed by Bain Capital Insurance, with deep expertise in structured financing, credit support, and risk management. We pioneered Insurance Collateral Funding (ICF) - an innovative liquidity management solution that enables companies to transfer insurance collateral requirements off their balance sheets, freeing up capital for growth, operations, and strategic initiatives.

Our solutions empower CFOs and finance teams in industries facing evolving collateral demands under loss-sensitive insurance programs (e.g., workers' compensation, general liability, commercial auto, and professional liability). By providing flexible, powerful alternatives to traditional letters of credit and bank facilities, we help clients unlock trapped liquidity and operate at their fullest potential.

Backed by Bain Capital Insurance since 2024, 1970 Group is experiencing rapid growth and is well-positioned to expand its impact across the United States and Canada.

In this integrated position, you will contribute to relationship management, transaction origination and structuring, partner engagement, and the seamless day-to-day facilitation of letter of credit issuances and related workflows. You will work closely with the VP of Capital Markets and the COO, blending analytical, structuring, and operational responsibilities to drive execution and support our growth strategy in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with direct access to senior leadership.

•  Review and analyze credit agreements, facility documents, and covenants to ensure compliance and support ongoing portfolio management.

•  Perform financial analysis, including portfolio projections, scenario modeling, asset allocation, return metrics, and risk assessments.

•  Collaborate closely with Operations, Legal, Underwriting, and Business Development teams to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely issuance of letters of credit and execution of issuances.

•  Contribute to project management across commercial, operational, and technology initiatives as needed.

•  Support ad-hoc analytical and strategic projects for the COO and VP of Capital Markets.

Qualifications & Experience

•   4-6+ years of relevant experience in corporate/investment banking, capital markets, structured finance, portfolio management, or a related field.

•  Proven track record originating or supporting debt/structured finance transactions (e.g., due diligence, negotiation, deal execution, and management).

•  Strong experience reviewing, interpreting, and synthesizing credit agreement language and covenants.

•  Solid understanding of structured finance concepts, including securitization, collateralized obligations, special purpose vehicles (SPVs), and/or credit facilities.

•  Excellent analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle complex, unique fact patterns and make sound recommendations.

•   Demonstrated ability to manage projects and coordinate cross-functional teams (Operations, Legal, etc.).

•  Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships internally and externally.

•  Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field; MBA, CFA, CPA, FRM, or similar advanced credentials strongly preferred.
