Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician responsible for drafting and providing designs to the Engineering team. The role involves transforming raw data into working drawings, building upon them by adding construction layers such as electrical auxiliary systems, power distribution, lighting systems, and fire alarm systems to create comprehensive construction documents. The CAD Technician will consult with engineers to ensure accuracy and fill in technical details.

Responsibilities

• Draft and provide designs to Engineering.
• Create as-built drawings, including the specification and design of site lighting, interior lighting, and emergency lighting.
• Coordinate with mechanical contract drawings to ensure accurate placement of lighting systems.
• Produce detailed electrical schematics.
• Fill in technical details using drawings, rough sketches, specifications, etc.
• Perform calculations for placement accuracy.
• Clean and render data, including redlining.
• Research specifications and datasheets as needed.
• Log drawings and make database entries.
• Participate in weekly team meetings regarding project schedules.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a BIM Modeler, Detailer, Technician, or Coordinator.
• Proficiency in Revit, preferably in electrical or architectural applications.
• Experience in designing and building detailed 3D models of electrical systems, including conduits, fixtures, and panels.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Electrical, Mechanical, or Architectural related degree is a plus.
• Experience with BIM Navisworks is advantageous.
• Familiarity with diverse project bases such as commercial, industrial, healthcare, and automotive buildings.

Work Environment

The position is based in an office located in Madison Heights, with 20 employees working in-office and others in the field as Installers, Field Techs, and Electricians. The field staff are members of the Local Union. The work schedule is 8 am to 5 pm, with casual attire permitted, including jeans and button-up shirts. The role is fully remote, but local candidates are preferred to work in the office. Candidates must be in the Eastern Time Zone.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison Heights, MI.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $48.07/hr.
