Assistant Designer – CAD | Intimates/Lingerie

Location: Hybrid – New York, NY



A leading women’s fashion retailer is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Assistant Designer to support the development of commercially viable intimates and lingerie collections. This role is ideal for an emerging design professional with a strong fashion eye, excellent technical design support skills, and a passion for product creation within a fast-paced retail environment.

The Assistant Designer will play a critical role in supporting the design team through CAD development, tech pack execution, sample management, seasonal presentation preparation, and PLM/BOM organization. The ideal candidate will have strong Adobe Creative Suite skills, a solid understanding of lingerie construction, and the ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities with speed and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design team in developing brand-right, commercially viable intimates and lingerie product assortments aligned with seasonal concepts and business strategies
  • Create and maintain CADs, flat sketches, color-ups, print fills, and line sheet presentations using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Assist with the preparation and execution of tech packs, BOMs, and PLM documentation for style development and vendor communication
  • Build and maintain seasonal fabric boards, color boards, mood boards, and concept presentations
  • Coordinate and organize development samples, ensuring timely tracking, steaming, preparation, and handoff to key cross-functional partners
  • Support fittings and prototype reviews in partnership with Technical Design, documenting updates and follow-up actions
  • Communicate development updates and product information to internal teams including Production, Merchandising, and Technical Design, as well as external vendors
  • Prepare for milestone meetings and line reviews through presentation setup, sample coordination, and product organization
  • Conduct competitive research, trend analysis, and inspiration sourcing to support seasonal design direction
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency across all design documentation, product details, and organizational processes
  • Assist in maintaining the sample room and organizing seasonal product archives
  • Adapt designs and updates based on feedback while maintaining alignment with brand standards and customer expectations
  • Contribute to process improvements that support efficiency, speed, and operational excellence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Entry-level experience within fashion design, preferably in intimates, lingerie, swim, or related categories
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign required
  • Experience with PLM systems, BOM management, and tech pack creation strongly preferred; Centric PLM experience is a plus
  • Understanding of garment construction, fit, proportion, and lingerie/intimates product development
  • Strong CAD skills with the ability to create print fills, brushes, and detailed product visualizations


Preferred Background

Candidates with prior experience supporting intimates, lingerie, or fashion design teams in a retail environment will stand out. Exposure to technical design processes, line sheet creation, PLM systems, and seasonal sample organization is highly valued.
