Summary / Objective
The Buyer negotiates vender terms, prices and schedules delivery using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements; with a focus on creating Purchase Orders and following up on them until delivery.
Essential Functions
- Price out stock lists.
- Know components that are being ordered and be capable of suggesting alternatives to Engineering when a certain component or material cannot be obtained on time.
- Return items in a timely manner.
- Help coordinate new supplier introductions or changes, access and support use of quote file.
- Order material based on project timeline – staged per build dates.
- Support all quality system requirements
- Gather information from the late report, sort it and prepare updated reports for the P.M. (Purchasing Manager) and each leader on the ETA for each late item.
- Collect minority-reporting data and transfer to customer site, issue copy of report to P.M. (Purchasing Manager)
- Review monthly the progress of each item above with P.M (Purchasing Manager).
- Assist with inventory management as required.
- All other duties as required by management and help facilitate the introduction of process improvements.
Minimum Education Requirements
- High School degree or equivalent
Minimum Experience Required
- 2 years’ experience with machine tool purchasing. (Preferred)
- Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- Able to do a lot of bending, stooping, and lifting (10-50lbs).
