Job Purpose:
The instructor is responsible to the Dean for Business and Industrial Technologies for the delivery of quality instruction, course management, and advisement of students in the Business Administration programs. Responsibilities occur in the areas of instructional development, teaching performance, student advisement, professional development, college/community service, and instructional management.
Job Duties:
INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Review, select and update textbooks for program courses when appropriate.
2. Reflect current subject field knowledge, interpretations, and teaching techniques for use in class preparation.
3. Maintain a comprehensive curriculum Program Guide with an assessment plan for student outcome.
4. Prior to each term revise all course syllabi for scheduled classes and comply with the College's approved format.
5. Develop new courses and modify existing ones to reflect changes or developments in the subject matter.
6. Continue offerings at satellite campuses and expand course offerings through the use of adjunct faculty and/or distance learning technology.
7. Develop and modify courses based on program assessment plan.
8. Coordinate schedule with interested others in both the Division and the College.
9. Work with members of the program Advisory Committee to participate in planning for new and existing programs and courses.
TEACHING PERFORMANCE
1. Provide instruction in the Supply Chain and Logistics and other instructional areas for the Business Technologies Department as needed.
2. Relate instruction and materials, discussions, test items, and other course activities to course objectives.
3. Use effective examples and illustrations in communicating with students.
4. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with students.
5. Follow systematic instructional plans and allow for variations as appropriate.
6. Use varied teaching techniques as appropriate.
7. Reflect current subject field knowledge, interpretations, and teaching techniques in delivery of instruction.
8. Coordinate course objectives with student evaluations, ensuring that College policies and procedures are followed.
9. Maintain overall evaluation strategies and content appropriate to course level.
10.Integrate evaluation in the learning process, including comparison of student success when various delivery methods are implemented.
11.Achieve at least a 3.5 on student evaluations.
STUDENT ADVISEMENT
COLLEGE and/or COMMUNITY SERVICE
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:
Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a Master's with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Business, Management, and/or Marketing, or a closely related field.
Higher education teaching experience and five years of industry experience are preferred.
