Business Development Manager
International Freight Forwarding Miami, FL
$85,000 – $110,000 Base + Uncapped Commission
ABOUT
We are representing a South American-founded, privately held global freight forwarder with a network spanning 39 countries and a U.S. operation headquartered in Doral, FL since 1988.
They built their business on Latin American and Caribbean trade corridors before expanding into transatlantic and Asia-Pacific routes throughout the 2000s. Today their Miami office sits at the centre of their entire Americas operation, processing a high volume of FCL, LCL, and air freight moving through PortMiami and Miami International Airport. Their U.S. commercial team currently sits at twelve people across two offices.
Their client base spans retail, food and beverage, manufacturing, and consumer goods, with a heavy weighting toward importers and exporters active across LATAM corridors. Their average client tenure across the U.S. portfolio sits at over five years. The operations team knows these trade lanes inside out and the carrier relationships that come with three decades in this market are genuinely difficult to replicate.
They are selectively adding one Business Development Manager to the Miami team to capitalise on new territory and a pipeline that is already generating activity.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across the South Florida market through targeted prospecting, cold outreach, and in-person client visits, with a minimum of ten CRM-recorded customer interactions per week, of which at least five must be first-time contacts.
- Complete a minimum of three to five face-to-face client visits per week, recorded and tracked in the CRM without exception.
- Manage the full sales lifecycle from initial discovery through to RFQ and RFP preparation, proposal delivery, and contract close.
- Present tailored air freight, ocean freight, and customs brokerage solutions built around each client's specific import and export requirements across LATAM, transatlantic, and Asia-Pacific trade lanes.
- Collaborate with internal operations and pricing teams to develop competitive proposals and ensure a clean handover from sale to execution.
- Maintain accurate pipeline records and provide regular updates on territory activity, conversion progress, and revenue forecast.
- Monitor trade lane developments, competitor positioning, and market conditions across the South Florida territory to identify commercial opportunities.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- No active non-solicitation or non-compete agreement.
- A willingness to work a minimum of three days per week from the Doral office when not travelling.
- Strong knowledge of international trade lanes, Incoterms, and both ocean and air freight products. Familiarity with LATAM corridors is a significant advantage.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms with a disciplined and consistent approach to activity recording and pipeline management.
- Experience managing RFQ and RFP processes and presenting logistics solutions to commercial decision-makers.
- A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Spanish language proficiency is an advantage, not a requirement.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- Base salary of $85,000 to $110,000 dependent on experience.
- Uncapped commission with no ceiling on earnings.
- Car allowance.
- Full benefits package including medical, dental, and vision.
