Job Description

The Business Analyst will analyze large and complex datasets to uncover cost drivers, trends, and optimization opportunities, while designing and implementing process improvements that enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy. This role supports category management teams on cost-reduction initiatives, including sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, and tariff impact analysis. The Business Analyst collaborates closely with procurement, finance, and operations stakeholders to deliver actionable insights, and prepares clear, executive-ready summaries that highlight risks, savings opportunities, and performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret large and complex datasets to identify cost drivers, trends, and opportunities for optimization and savings.
  • Create and refine reporting structures that support cost reduction initiatives, including projects and tariff-related activities.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of reporting and analytics.
  • Support category management teams with financial and cost-reduction initiatives such as sourcing projects, supplier negotiations, and tariff impact analysis.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in procurement, finance, and operations to deliver data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare clear, concise leadership summaries and executive-ready reports that highlight risks, savings opportunities, and key performance metrics.
  • Track and report progress on cost savings, projects, and tariff-related initiatives to ensure visibility and accountability.
  • Continuously review existing processes and analytics approaches to recommend enhancements that drive better business outcomes.
Essential Skills
  • 5–10 years of experience in roles such as business analyst, buyer, purchasing professional, tariff analyst, cost analyst, or similar analytical positions, including relevant internships.
  • Proven experience in cost reduction and cost analysis, including identifying and quantifying savings opportunities.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to work with large and complex datasets and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, including designing and implementing more efficient and scalable reporting and analytics processes.
  • Ability to create clear, concise leadership summaries and executive-ready reports that communicate complex information in an accessible way.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience partnering with cross-functional teams such as procurement, finance, and operations.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in purchasing, buying, or category management that supports understanding of sourcing and supplier negotiations.
  • Experience as a tariff analyst or cost analyst, with familiarity in tariff impact analysis and related reporting.
  • Comfort working with financial metrics, performance indicators, and savings tracking for projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple cost-reduction projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality analysis and reporting.
Work Environment

The Business Analyst works in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with close interaction with procurement, finance, and operations teams. The role focuses heavily on data-driven decision-making, regular reporting, and continuous process improvement. Work typically takes place in a professional office setting or a comparable hybrid/remote environment that supports analytical work, stakeholder meetings, and preparation of executive-level reports.

This is a Contract position based out of Chillicothe, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $52.00/hr.
