Job Description
The Building Engineer is responsible for the advanced operation, maintenance, and repair of central plant systems on campus, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, large-scale HVAC equipment, and associated controls. This role ensures the reliable, safe, and efficient performance of building mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems through expert troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and coordination of repairs.

Work Environment
This role operates within a campus setting that includes a central plant and multiple buildings, requiring frequent work around boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and large HVAC systems. You will regularly use building automation and DDC systems from major providers such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Trane, or Honeywell to monitor and adjust equipment. The position involves hands-on work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and plant spaces, with exposure to noise, heat, cold, and moving machinery. Work typically follows a full-time schedule and may require occasional after-hours or emergency response to system issues. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to life safety and emergency procedures, and professional attire appropriate for a technical facilities role, including any required personal protective equipment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Whittier, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $42.00/hr.
