We are seeking a skilled and motivatedBuilding Engineer (Operating Engineer)to join the facilities team at a premier Class A commercial high rise in downtown Minneapolis. This role offers hands‑on exposure to high‑end building systems, a collaborative team environment, and a clear pathway to advancement—including the opportunity to move into afull‑time Assistant Chief Engineerposition.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
  • Maintain, inspect, and repair critical building systems includingchillers, VAVs, air handlers, boilers, and pumps
  • Troubleshoot and service cooling towers, motors, utility generators, and UPS systems
  • Support commercial kitchen equipment, plumbing systems, lighting, and general mechanical maintenance
  • Performpreventive maintenance, filter and belt changes, and chemical treatment/testing
  • Executelockout/tagout proceduresand assist with critical facility operations
  • Participate inseasonal maintenance work, including small engine maintenance in winter and high pump-volume demands in warmer months
  • Support facility projects and general upkeep, including minor painting and repairs
  • Maintain accurate work orders and documentation while ensuring safety and compliance at all times
What We’re Looking For

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience inbuilding or facilities maintenance
  • 2+ years of hands-on HVAC troubleshootingexperience, including boilers, air handlers, chillers, and pumps

Technical Strengths

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems
  • Experience maintaining commercial and industrial equipment
  • Comfortable working with preventive maintenance programs and work order systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting, attention to detail, and time management skills

Schedule & Work Environment
  • First shift, Monday–Friday (typically 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) with flexibility on start/end times
  • Initial training may include mid-shift hours
  • After onboarding, participate in arotating on-call scheduleshared with five other engineers
  • Badge and full building access provided during your first week

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
