The Building Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the daily operations of commercial property systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety equipment. This role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to ensure safe and efficient building performance. The position also requires timely response to service requests and general facility upkeep.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems.
  • Troubleshoot building systems and respond to service requests in a timely manner.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment including air handling units, pumps, generators, and related systems.
  • Monitor building operations, record system readings, and report issues outside normal ranges.
  • Support life safety systems by responding to alarms, conducting inspections, and maintaining compliance logs.
  • Complete general maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting, meter readings, and basic facility upkeep.


Qualifications

  • 4+ years of building maintenance experience or relevant technical/trade school training preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems in a commercial environment.
  • Ability to safely use tools and operate equipment such as lifts, meters, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently or on a team, including availability for overtime or on-call schedules.
