Job Description: BOM (Bill of Materials) Specialist
The BOM Specialist is responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) structures to support manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain operations. He/ She will work very closely with Design engineering to release parts. This role ensures data integrity across systems and collaborates with cross-functional teams to enable smooth product launches, material planning, and production execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering, design and procurement team to release parts.
- Create, validate, and maintain accurate multi-level BOMs for new and existing products
- Ensure proper structuring of assemblies, subassemblies, and component relationships
- Manage CO’s process to completion in Oracle Fusion.
- Work closely with Procurement, purchasing team and MDM Specialist to ensure material availability and correct part setup
- Validate part numbers, descriptions, units of measure, and sourcing information
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in BOM structures, material data, and system records
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for BOM changes
- Track and report key metrics related to BOM accuracy and release timelines
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Supply Chain, or related field
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in BOM management, engineering support,
- Strong understanding of BOM structures, including multi-level assemblies and product configurations
- Experience with ERP/PLM systems (Oracle Fusion and EBS Alice)
- Familiarity with Change Order system
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, preferably in electro-mechanical environments
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and purchasing teams
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting global or multi-site manufacturing environments
- Understanding of supply chain and material planning concepts (MRP)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Travel Requirements (Optional)
- Up to 20% travel, depending on business needs
