A growing, physician-owned eye care group with three KS locations offering comprehensive eye exams, LASIK, cataract surgery, laser vision correction, and full optical services is looking for an experienced Billing Manager to lead and supervise the billing department.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate coding, efficient claims processing, and strong oversight of revenue cycle performance. The Billing Manager will work closely with leadership to monitor billing metrics, identify areas for improvement, and ensure the practice maintains strong financial performance through effective billing operations.
This position is ideal for a billing professional with deep medical billing expertise and experience managing a team, particularly within ophthalmology or specialty medical practices.
Key Responsibilities
Billing Operations & Revenue Cycle
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the billing department
- Ensure accurate coding, billing, and claims submission
- Monitor claims processing, denials, and reimbursement timelines
- Ensure compliance with payer requirements and billing regulations
- Work to improve billing efficiency and collections performance
- Identify and resolve billing issues impacting revenue
Billing Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze key billing and revenue cycle metrics
- Develop and maintain reporting on billing performance
- Identify trends in denials, reimbursement rates, and payer behavior
- Provide leadership with clear insight into billing performance
- Recommend process improvements to strengthen revenue capture
Team Leadership & Department Management
- Supervise billing staff and ensure department productivity
- Provide training and guidance on coding, billing procedures, and compliance
- Establish clear processes and accountability within the billing team
- Support collaboration between billing staff, providers, and administrative leadership
- Help develop and improve internal billing workflows
Compliance & Accuracy
- Ensure proper coding and documentation standards are maintained
- Maintain compliance with insurance, Medicare, and regulatory requirements
- Assist with audits or internal reviews when necessary
- Support the practice in maintaining strong billing integrity and financial accuracy
Qualifications
Required
- Billing management experience (Preferably in an eyecare setting)
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and revenue cycle management
- Experience supervising or managing billing staff
- Strong analytical ability with billing data and reporting
- Ability to identify operational improvements within billing workflows
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience with ophthalmology billing and coding
- Master Biller or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) designation
- Experience working in a specialty physician practice
- Strong understanding of insurance reimbursement models
