Job Duties:
The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking to hire three licensed candidates dedicated to making a difference in our community for the Clinician III positions for the "Intensive Outpatient Program" (IOP). The ideal candidate will have experience conducting individual, group, couples, and family therapy with adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), trauma informed care, and harm reduction strategies.
A $4,000 hiring bonus is being offered for this position.**
Responsibilities:
Complete all complex clinical assessments for annual reviews to include Comprehensive Needs Assessments, Risk Assessments, DLA-20’s, Diagnostic Review, and Columbia Suicide Assessments.
Develop and write all treatment plans for individuals entering the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) or expanded Substance Use Disorders (SUD) services and complete their quarterly reviews.
Submit Medicaid authorizations and re-authorizations.
Provide both process groups and psychoeducational groups, individual therapy, family and couple’s therapy and crisis counseling.
In the absence of the Clinical Supervisor and Program Supervisor, the Clinician III is responsible for delegating tasks, ensuring the safety of all individuals in the program at all times, handling crisis situations, ensuring all work is completed in a timely manner, communicating with the administrative team, and being knowledgeable about policies and procedures.
Responsible for individual monitoring, answering telephone inquiries, knowledge of referral sources, and documentation in individual charts.
Assist in program planning, development, implementation and evaluation to strive for continued program service delivery to individuals.
The Clinician III will be the consultant for others on the team to discuss complex case conceptualizations, treatment planning and discharge planning.

Monday - Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Monday - Friday, 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Afternoon/evening schedules associated with this position are eligible for shift differential pay according to City policy 2.08.

$1,000 will be awarded in the first paycheck.
$1,250 will be awarded upon completion of the six (6) month interim performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations.”
$1,750 will be awarded upon completion of the employee’s one (1) year probationary period and a performance evaluation with an overall rating of “Meets Expectations”.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH POSITIONS: Requires a four (4) year degree in a human services field (such as psychology, behavioral or mental health, special education, social work) and five (5) years utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities and associated with such positions as clinician, counselor, therapist, social worker, psychologist or psychiatric nurse OR any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to nine (9) years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with such positions. DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES POSITIONS: Requires a four (4) year degree in a human service field (psychology, behavioral or mental health, special education, social work) and five (5) years? experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities OR any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to nine (9) years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for working with persons with intellectual disabilities. Preferences:
Experience conducting substance use disorders (SUD) groups.
Experience conducting individual therapy with SUD adult individuals.
Experience conducting couples and family therapy with SUD individuals.
Experience and Knowledgeable with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Experience in trauma informed care.
Experience with co-occurring mental health and SUD counseling.
Experience utilizing harm reduction strategies.
Special Instructions:
Must be licensed as a LPC, LCSW, LCP, or licensed eligible LPC.
VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
