Job Duties:
The City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services is seeking a talented Behavior Specialist I to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide interventions and support individuals with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential environment.

Specific Duties:
Implement Person-Centered Individual Support Plans (ISP) for up to twelve (12) assigned participants. Assist with meal preparation, hygiene care, and activities of daily living.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to four (4) years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities such as, sociology, psychology, or special education. May be required to have, or obtain, a current and valid drivers license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferences:
CNA Certification
Two or more years experience working with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
Two or more years experience administering medications.
One or more years experience reviewing progress notes and writing quarterly reviews.
Two or more years experience supporting with activities of ADLs and IADLs.
One or more years experience utilizing electronic health records for documentation purposes.

VRS Contribution: All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of annual salary toward their retirement account; in accordance with VRS retirement provisions. This will be handled through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
