Bartender

Carver Road Hospitality
New York, NY

About Us

We are seeking experienced, hospitality-driven Bartenders to join our award-winning portfolio in New York City, including Carversteak, Rosevale Cocktail Room, and Starchild Rooftop, all located within the iconic Civilian Hotel.

This is more than a role behind the bar, it is an opportunity to become part of a storytelling-driven hospitality experience, where every cocktail, every interaction, and every detail contributes to something far greater than service alone.

At Carver Road Hospitality, we pride ourselves on creating environments that blend culinary excellence, thoughtful design, and elevated energy. We are looking for individuals who naturally embody that same spirit—bartenders who are not only technically skilled, but intuitive hosts who can read a room, anticipate guest needs, and deliver moments that feel both personal and unforgettable.

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for executing an elevated beverage program with precision, consistency, and refined hospitality. This role blends technical craft with intuitive guest engagement, delivering a seamless bar and lounge experience while upholding the highest standards of product integrity, service excellence, and operational discipline.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Execute all cocktails with precision, adhering strictly to recipe specifications, proper technique, dilution, and temperature control.
  • Maintain the integrity of fresh juices, house-made syrups, infusions, and batched cocktails, including proper labeling, dating, storage, and rotation.
  • Prepare and maintain daily mise en place, including fresh juice pressing, garnish preparation, batching, and station organization.
  • Monitor quality of all ingredients, proactively addressing oxidation, spoilage, or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain organized liquor displays, proper par levels, and overall bar readiness at all times.
  • Deliver elevated, detail-driven service while anticipating guest needs and creating a personalized experience.
  • Engage guests through strong product knowledge and storytelling, including spirits, vermouths, amari, and cocktail techniques.
  • Provide thoughtful recommendations across all beverage offerings, including spirit-forward, low-ABV, and zero-proof options, as well as food pairings.
  • Conduct full bar and lounge service, including taking orders, entering into POS, and delivering food and beverages.
  • Solicit and communicate allergy and dietary restrictions with accuracy and care.
  • Maintain awareness of service flow and pacing to ensure a seamless guest experience.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the bar, bar area, and surrounding service spaces at all times.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health standards and alcohol service regulations.
  • Accurately complete POS transactions, cash handling, and end-of-shift financial procedures.
  • Execute opening and closing duties, including side work and next-day readiness.
  • Communicate effectively with Front-of-House and Back-of-House teams to ensure timely and accurate service.
  • Report any equipment issues, breakage, or operational concerns promptly to management.
  • Attend and actively participate in pre-service meetings and ongoing training.
  • Participate in ongoing education, including tastings, product knowledge, and technique development.
  • Maintain a polished, professional presence and contribute positively to a high-performance team environment.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Proven experience in a fine dining, craft cocktail, or high-level beverage program (not solely volume-driven).
  • Strong understanding of classic cocktails, modern techniques, and flavor balance.
  • Experience working with fresh juice programs, batching, infusions, and seasonal ingredients.
  • Demonstrates precision, cleanliness, and discipline behind the bar without sacrificing speed.
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Strong communication skills with a hospitality-first mindset.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods of time.
  • Role may include repetitive motion.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
