Role Overview
We are building an enterprise-scale internal developer platform aimed at eliminating infrastructure friction. The objective is to provide application teams with a seamless experience that balances speed and flexibility with strong security, compliance, and cost governance.
As a Senior Azure Architect, you will play a key role in defining standards and architectural patterns that power this platform. You will design scalable, secure, and production-ready solutions while bridging the gap between infrastructure operations and developer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture Design
- Develop and refine reference architectures for compute runtimes
- Evaluate and recommend solutions across:
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Azure Container Apps
- Azure App Service
Resilience & Disaster Recovery
- Architect Tier 1 systems with Active-Active multi-region deployment (RTO < 4 hours)
- Design failover strategies for:
- PostgreSQL Flexible Server
- Cosmos DB
- Redis Enterprise
- Implement traffic management strategies
Network & Security Architecture
- Design secure networking models:
- Hub-and-Spoke architecture
- Private Link / Endpoints
- DNS strategies
- Implement Security by Design using:
- Entra ID (Managed Identities, Federated Credentials)
- Policy enforcement
Standardization & Governance
- Create reusable, policy-compliant infrastructure patterns
- Ensure compliance with:
- Observability standards (Azure Managed Grafana)
- Logging frameworks
- Cost governance controls
Subject Matter Expertise
- Provide Azure expertise to application teams
- Guide modernization initiatives and cloud-native adoption
- Optimize database and infrastructure performance
Required Skills & Experience
Azure Expertise
- Deep knowledge of Azure services, control plane, limits, and trade-offs
- Strong experience with:
- AKS
- App Service
- Networking
- Storage
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Expertise in building modular, reusable, and scalable Terraform code
Advanced Data Architecture
- High-availability design using:
- Azure SQL / PostgreSQL
- Cosmos DB (multi-region read/write)
- Caching strategies
Networking
- Strong understanding of:
- Virtual Networks
- Application Gateway
- Azure Front Door / Traffic Manager
- Private connectivity
Production Operations
- Experience with observability tools:
- Application Insights
- Azure Monitor
- Prometheus
- Designing for day-2 operations
Security & Identity
- Expertise in:
- Entra ID (OIDC/OAuth flows)
- RBAC models
- Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM)
Nice to Have
- Experience with Wiz or similar cloud security tools
- FinOps knowledge (cost monitoring, anomaly detection, budget control)
- Familiarity with GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working with Azure management APIs
