Reporting Authority: Divisional ChairBishop State Community College invites applications for the position oflnstructor, Aviation Manufacturing Technology. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in aviation manufacturing and supporting student success through teaching, advising, and workforce development initiatives. The instructor will contnbute to program growth by maintaining strong industry partnerships and ensuring curriculum alignment with current workforce demands.The essential job functions listed are not comprehensive and duties and responsibilities may change without notice.
Instruction & Teaching:•Teach 15-18 credit hours per semester or equivalent instructional load
•Deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory, and hybrid/online formats
•Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and instructional content
•Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback
•Maintain regular office hours to support student success
Student Engagement & Support:•Recruit, advise, and mentor students throughout the program
•Support student retention and completion efforts
•Coordinate work-based learning and track student progress
•Assist with job placement and career readiness
Program & Administrative Duties:•Maintain accurate academic records (grades, attendance, reporting)
•Assist in curriculum development and program assessment
•Support accreditation and compliance requirements (e.g., SACSCOC)
•Manage instructional resources, equipment, and laboratory environments
•Participate in program budgeting and resource planning
Industry & College Engagement:•Build and maintain partnerships with business and industry
•Support workforce training and continuing education initiatives
•Participate in advisory committee meetings and program improvement efforts
•Seive on institutional committees and contnbute to college initiatives
Minimum Requirements:•
Education & Experience (one required):
• Associate Degree from an accredited institution and three (3) years of full-time experience in a manufacturing related field; OR
• Certificate from an accredited institution and six (6) years of full-time experience in a manufacturing-related field; OR
• High School diploma with a minimum of six (6) years of documented, full-time experience as a practitioner in the aviation or manufacturing technology field. The successful candidate is expected to complete an associate degree from a regionally accredited institution within three (3) years of the original hire date as a condition of continued employment.
• Documented industry-recognized credential (earned or in progress)
• Experience in aviation manufacturing or closely related industry, including:
•Sheet metal fabrication and assembly
•Precision measurement and layout techniques
•Drilling and riveting
•Electrical assembly and testing
•Safe operation of tools and equipment
Preferred Requirements:
•Aviation training experience or post-secondary teaching experience.
•NC3 (National Coalition of Certification Centers) Certified Instructor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•Proficiency with instructional and administrative technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office, LMS platforms such as Canvas)
•Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and industry partners
•Commitment to maintaining current technical and instructional expertise
Certifications & Professional Development:•Must obtain and maintain industry-recognized certifications as required by the College (e.g., OSHA, NC3)
•Ongoing participation in professional development activities

Salary: ACCS Salary Schedule: D1•This is a 9-month position. Summer teaching opportunities may be available based on enrollment and institutional need.
•Salary placement is based on the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Salary Schedule (Dl), commensurate with qualifications and experience.
•9-Month Salary Range: $42,108 - $94,363 (based on education and experience)
•Summer Term (Optiona?? 3-Month Contract): $13,001 - $29,184 (based on enrollment and qualifications)
