Job Title: Automation Technician
Job Description

As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and commissioning PLC-based control systems, diagnosing HVAC issues, and modifying control programs. You will also be tasked with creating system dashboards and designing automation system graphics. Your role will involve commissioning microprocessor-based controls such as DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and transducers. Additionally, you will verify wiring for grounding, polarity, communication, and power while calibrating input/output devices like temperature sensors and pressure transducers.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and commission PLC-based control systems.
  • Diagnose HVAC issues and modify control programs.
  • Create system dashboards and design automation system graphics.
  • Commission microprocessor-based controls, including DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and transducers.
  • Verify wiring for grounding, polarity, communication, and power.
  • Calibrate input/output devices such as temperature sensors and pressure transducers.
  • Upload, download, and modify control programs.
  • Configure BACnet networks, including IP, subnet, MAC, and instance numbers.
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems and diagnose control logic issues.
  • Modify and debug ladder logic, structured text, and function block programming.
  • Map control points to supervisory controllers, add alarms, and history.
  • Link control points to graphics and dashboards.
Essential Skills
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical skills related to troubleshooting, electrical systems, microprocessor, and sensors.
  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Technology, or Automation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Experience with Microsoft Products.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL or other database applications.
Work Environment

The work environment includes both office and field settings. Expect extended periods of desk work involving computer-based tasks at your individual desk. Fieldwork involves frequent visits to local construction job sites with significant client interaction, requiring 30-50% travel. Managers anticipate travel to be no more than 20%, occurring on weekdays with several months' notice. The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
