As the Associate/Technical Lead for Intelligent Infrastructure (II) Lighting & Energy Solutions team you will be at the forefront of creating engineering marvels and leading a team of technical experts. You will work closely with the UK Technical Leadership Group (TLG), UK capability/sector leads, Project Directors, Project Managers, and Business Development team across the II Strategic Business Unit (and wider WSP UK / global business). This role is to work as part of a team to support the delivery of projects. Highly motivated individual Leading the technical aspects of lighting & energy projects for UK market.

This role will be working under the supervision of a project manager to carry out the following functions.

This role is for Technical Lead (15-18 years). The principal accountabilities for the role include:
To contribute to Lighting design for:
·    Highways including motorways, transport, infrastructure, city beautification and residential areas
·    Industrial facilities, Decorative lighting projects, Sports facilities, Car parks, Amenity areas
·    Site surveys/desktop study including:
1)    To determine the existing infrastructure pre-design
2)    Lighting assessments for environmental impact and obtrusive lighting assessments;
·    Production of Environmental Lighting Impact Assessments reports;
·    Business Development including attendance at CPD events, exhibitions and seminars;
·    Involvement in the production and updating of client policies and procedures;
·    Developing innovative solutions that push the boundaries of engineering.
·    Provide Engineering support and technical guidance for lighting design and associated design activities for UK team within.
·    Supporting the UK with bidding opportunities on technical inputs.
·    Ensuring end client expectation is met and providing support in Technical deliverables, as required.
·    Liaising with project managers you will play a key role in both managing technical input to projects and ensuring that deliverables are appropriate and fit for purpose.
·    Line Manager/ Technical Team Development – PDRs, promotion, training & mentoring.
·    Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
·    Manage the team and processes to ensure the preparation and checking of documents, reports and other technical outputs/deliverables from a variety of lighting related disciplines meet internal and client requirements and quality assurance standards.
·    Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams
·    Provide Technical leadership and direction for the GCC Development team and ensuring that it is aligned with the wider UK business
·    Monitor and review team capability in the use of the required standards, processes and software tools, training required, opportunities to upskill existing technical resources or recruit new capabilities to deliver additional services or enhance existing ones.
·    Contribute to the design of operational processes, systems, quality measurement processes and achievement of KPIs.
·    Must undertake continuous professional development.
·    Contribute to knowledge sharing in internal and external forums and including technical input to team.
·    Local health and safety, welfare, risk, information security, and assessment/compliance.
·    Mentoring team members towards professional accreditation or equivalent.
·    Ensuring that the Business Management System is implemented and maintained.
·    Liaison with clients.
·    Provide lighting design and Ensure that all designs and drawings are checked to the required standards and quality.
·    Ensure clear understanding of project scope and deliverables to be produced. Ensure projects are completed on time and meet prescribed project deadlines as assigned.
·    Provide regular work status updates, including project progress, risks, Issues, concerns, or changes to the line manager/project manager. Responds to/tracks LM complaints/concerns.
·    Attend and contribute in team and project meetings as required. Contribute in team building and maintaining the positive team morale. Maintain focus and integrity towards the delivery of CRC's strategy. Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
·    Work in coordination with all other design team member. Coordinate with and direct Engineers, CAD Technicians concerning requirements and timelines. Manage multiple projects in clear concise/coordinated manner.
·    Train and supervise any engineer working on your project. Complete detailed design and check the work of subordinate or peer. Ensure weekly submission of timesheets (your and team member working on your project).
·    Commercial governance – project reviews; forecasting and resource management.
·    Divisional Resource Management – GCC utilisation.
·    Key point of contact with the UK business, direct liaison with UK leadership, and promoting the iCRC and ensuring its success.
·    Staff/Team Development – support, training, nurturing; and.
·    Representing the Intelligent Infrastructure business within the wider Indian Business.
·    Support the companies approach to sustainability.

Key Competencies / Skills:
Mandatory skills 
·    Experience in a consulting firm about 15 to 18 years, delivering designs of dry utilities including Street Light design and calculations, MV/LV/HV design and calculations, duct network design and electrical design calculations.
·    Good computer skills including a working knowledge of proprietary lighting, signing and electrical design programmes such as Lighting Reality, Dialux, AutoCAD, Amtech.
·    Experience in lighting design to the relevant British and EU Standards
·    Experience in consultancy or development background with a bias on private sector work. Ability to seek clarity of instructions, check own work before submitting for approval, agree and meet timescales for items of work.
·    Completion or part completion of the ILP’s Lighting Exterior Lighting Diploma or equivalent
·    Understanding of relevant standards and legislation including Health & Safety
·    Sound knowledge of British standards and manuals.
·    Awareness of UK local authority specifications.
·    Experience in coordinating with multi offices and multidiscipline projects.
·    Meet appropriate service/design decisions.
·    Inform more senior staff and peers of important and relevant service/design decisions, assert that the objectives of the company and the client are being achieved.
·    Coordinating his/her work with other members of the project team.
·    Work competently with minimal supervision.
·    Prepare and assist technical and financial schedules for new work.
·    Assist managing the workload of Project Discipline Engineers and Technicians (including verification of quality).
·    Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design. 
·    Computer literate, with experience of appropriate modelling software or equivalent Excel spreadsheet calculations.
·    Good English communication skills are essential.
·    The candidate must have a valid passport and be prepared to be seconded for up to 3 months in the UK as projects dictate. The home base for the candidate will be Noida/Bangalore.

Desired skills
·    Experience of undertaking lighting impact assessments and traffic sign design would also be ideal.
·    Membership of the Institution of Lighting Professionals (preferably AMILP / MILP or working towards these qualifications)
·    Preference will be given to candidates with experience in complementary infrastructure fields such as roads and highways, dry utilities network, telecom networks, LV electrical networks.
·    Previous project experience in any UK lead office, including coordinating with local government agencies for design approvals (NOCs), will also be preferred.
