Position Summary

The Associate Director of Development will serve as the primary fundraising professional for Florida Citizens Alliance. This position focuses exclusively on fundraising—building

relationships with donors, securing gifts, and expanding the organization’s base of financial support.

The ideal candidate is a motivated and mission-driven individual who is early in their fundraising career and eager to develop into a seasoned major gifts professional. They will be directly responsible for raising $150,000 annually by managing and cultivating a portfolio of donors giving between $5,000 and $25,000.


This position includes direct mentorship from a seasoned fundraising professional and continuing education opportunities to advance the candidate’s long-term success in donor engagement, philanthropy, and leadership development.


Key Responsibilites

  • Build and manage a portfolio of mid-level donors and prospects capable of giving $5,000–$25,000 annually.
  • Conduct consistent outreach through personal calls, emails, and in-person meetings. Research and qualify new donor prospects aligned with FLCA’s mission and values.
  • Maintain a proactive schedule of donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Present giving opportunities and make direct asks for financial support.
  • Personally raise $150,000 annually through targeted donor engagement and solicitation.
  • Provide exceptional stewardship through timely thank-you communications, updates, and donor recognition.
  • Build and sustain long-term relationships grounded in trust, transparency, and shared values.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and fundraising mentor to implement an annual fundraising plan.
  • Record all donor interactions in the CRM system and track progress toward the $150,000 goal.
  • Prepare reports on donor activity, portfolio performance, and fundraising outcomes. Assist in developing donor communication materials and proposals.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in fundraising, sales, communications, or marketing.
  • 1–3 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or business development (internship or volunteer experience acceptable).
  • YOU MUST LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA (EAST OR WEST COAST).

  • Passionate about FLCA’s conservative, Christian values and commitment to educational reform.
  • Willingness to travel within Florida for donor meetings and events.


Compensation and Performance

• Base Salary

• Bonus Structure: Performance-based bonuses tied to meeting or exceeding the annual fundraising goal of $150,000.

• Performance Metrics:

- Total funds personally raised ($150,000 annual goal).

- Number of qualified donor meetings and outreach activities per month. - Donor retention and portfolio growth.


Mentorship and Professional Growth

• Mentorship: The Associate Director of Development will receive one-on-one mentorship from a seasoned fundraising professional with extensive experience in major gifts, donor strategy, and non-profit leadership.

• Continuing Education Opportunities: The role includes access to ongoing professional development, such as fundraising seminars, conferences, and certification programs. Support for professional association memberships (e.g., the Association of Fundraising Professionals) is encouraged.


• Career Path: This position serves as a pathway to a Major Gifts Officer or Director of Development role for candidates who demonstrate initiative, consistent performance, and

strong alignment with FLCA’s mission.
