Formulates program outcomes and designs curricula that reflect contemporary health care trends. Prepares graduates to function e?ectively in the health care environment. Knowledgeable about the educational environment within nursing practice and recognizes how political, institutional, social, and economic forces impact their role and forms the cornerstone for their participation in advisory committee meetings to address health care and educational needs locally, regionally, and state-wide.

- This position will teach in the Associate Degree Nursing program primarily in the clinical environment during the Fall and Spring semesters. This position will additionally assume a light didactic teaching load in the Summer semester.
- Utilize a variety of strategies to assess and evaluate student learning in the classroom, lab and clinical settings as well as all domains of learning.
- Maintains accurate and appropriate records for the course. At the end of the semester all listed materials will be turned into the Director: an electronic copy of the course; attendance sheet, grade sheet, a copy of each test with item analysis report; copy of the clinical rotation schedule; copy of evaluation of part time clinical faculty and recommendations for changes to the course before it is o?ered again.
- Assists in the maintenance of program approval, total program evaluation and program accreditation.
- Participates in recruitment and marketing activities for the Health Sciences division and College.
- Participates in the selection of quali?ed candidates for the program.
- Ensure compliance and con?dentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
Additionally- Assists Director of Nursing,
- Submits proposed nursing course (syllabi) and requests for clinical experience to the Dean.
- Submits request for ordering related instructional support materials, supplies and equipment for the assigned course.
- Provides student advisement in the areas of academic planning.
- Facilitates communication between students and instructors within the course leading to early problem resolution and mutual understanding.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director and/or Dean.
- Assumes responsibility for arranging and conducting student meetings related to the course.
- Collaborates with other instructors in writing course descriptions and objectives.
- Collaborates with other instructors in selecting textbooks, reference books, audiovisuals, and other learning aids for the course.
- Collaborates with the Director, Dean and other instructors of the course in the selection of clinical facilities.
- Collaborates with the Clinical Coordinator to establish clinical schedules and rotations.
- Facilitates posting and maintenance of materials in the learning management system for the assigned course.
- Collaborates with other instructors in scheduling classroom and clinical experience and numbers of students in each section.
- Collaborates with other nursing related programs for instructional support and co-teaching as needed.
EducationBachelor's in Nursing or a Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. (Master’s or higher preferred) Current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
Experience2 years, or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse.
Skills and the Know-HowPrior to or within the ?rst three years of employment, have preparation in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to the assignment. This preparation may be demonstrated by one of the following:
- Completion of 45 contact hours of continuing education courses,
- Completion of a certi?cate program in nursing education,
- Nine semester hours of education coursework,
- National certi?cation in nursing education; or
- Documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contract hours approved by the Board. Criteria for approval include content in the faculty role within the curriculum implementation, objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identi?ed student population and expectations of student and faculty performance.
- Maintain competence in the areas of assigned responsibility.
- Have current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse and the licensed practical nurse.
Other Related Skills: Possess strong personal and professional integrity, e?ective verbal and written communication skills, superb math skills, and a commitment to safety. Pro?ciency using Microsoft O?ce Suite or similar products, Adobe products, Database Systems, College email and website, web-based computer applications associated with the position. Must be able to meet eligibility requirements from the assigned clinical agency as they relate to criminal background checks and/or drug testing.
