Job Title: Assistant Superintendent – Federal Construction (Traveling Role)

Job Description

The Assistant Superintendent will support field operations on federal construction projects across New York and the East Coast, starting with an initial assignment at a federal base in Niagara, NY. This traveling role focuses on assisting with day-to-day site coordination, documentation, and safety compliance for federal and government construction work. The position offers exposure to diverse projects while working closely with project teams to help deliver high-quality, compliant results.

Responsibilities

  • Support the superintendent and project team with daily on-site construction activities on federal and government projects.
  • Assist in coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff to ensure work progresses according to schedule and project plans.
  • Help manage and track Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals, ensuring accurate documentation and timely responses.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe job site by following OSHA guidelines and company safety policies.
  • Monitor work quality and help verify that construction activities comply with federal requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Participate in site meetings and support communication between field teams, project management, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with daily reporting, site logs, and other project documentation as needed.
  • Support problem-solving efforts on site by identifying issues and communicating them promptly to the project leadership.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of construction experience on federal or government projects.
  • Hands-on experience working with RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience in federal construction environments and familiarity with related standards and expectations.
  • Ability to work full-time on active construction sites.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills for managing project information.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with field teams and project stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extended project assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an assistant superintendent or similar field support role.
  • Experience working on multiple federal or government projects across different locations.
  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing and tracking RFIs and submittals.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project needs and varying site conditions.
  • Interest in building a career in federal construction and field supervision.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site traveling position based initially at a federal base in Niagara, NY, with future assignments on additional federal projects across New York and the East Coast. The role is field-focused and requires daily presence on active construction sites, including exposure to typical construction conditions such as outdoor work, varying weather, and active equipment. Assignments are expected to last approximately 6 to 12 months per project, after which the Assistant Superintendent will transition to new sites as needed. The work environment emphasizes safety, adherence to federal standards, and close collaboration with project teams in a professional construction setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
