Job Summary

The Assistant Starbucks Manager supports the Starbucks Manager in overseeing the daily operations and performance of the licensed Starbucks café. This role helps ensure an exceptional customer experience, consistent product quality, compliance with Starbucks and company standards, and effective associate development while supporting sales, labor, and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Support

  • Support the Starbucks Manager in leading, coaching, training, and developing Starbucks associates.
  • Assist with scheduling, task delegation, and daily workflow execution.
  • Reinforce Starbucks service standards, beverage quality, and operational expectations.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and safety‑focused work environment.

Operations & Starbucks Standards

  • Support daily café operations, including beverage preparation, food service, and customer flow.
  • Ensure compliance with Starbucks brand standards, recipes, and presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, equipment, and backroom areas.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.

Customer Experience

  • Deliver an exceptional Starbucks customer experience through friendly, engaging service.
  • Address customer questions or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Model service behaviors that support connection, speed, and accuracy.

Inventory, Ordering & Financial Support

  • Assist with ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotation of Starbucks products and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels to support in‑stocks while minimizing waste and shrink.
  • Support labor management and expense control in alignment with café goals.

Food Safety, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and health department standards.
  • Support completion of temperature logs, cleanliness checks, and required documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and procedures.

Collaboration & Coverage

  • Partner with the Starbucks Manager and store leadership to support overall store operations.
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the Starbucks Manager’s absence.
  • Support store initiatives, promotions, and special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of Starbucks beverage standards and café operations preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems and point‑of‑sale technology.
  • Ability to motivate associates and support accountability.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous Starbucks, coffee shop, food service, or retail supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
