The assistant project manager is involved from the early stages of development of the work through project close-out. Works closely with superintendents and construction administration to achieve successful completion of projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Bidding and negotiate pricing, terms, and schedules with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Support Superintendents with project planning, scheduling, staffing, material costs, and execution.
- Coordinate logistics for equipment, materials, inventory, and scrap to ensure on‑time delivery and removal.
- Collaborate with Superintendents, shop/yard staff, and drivers to meet job requirements and deadlines.
- Manage subcontractor approvals, contracts, and communication with contract administration.
- Review payroll, production reports, and approve project billings for accuracy.
- Handle permits, material certifications, stored material payments, inspections, and approvals.
- Manage change orders, including scope changes, cost analysis, force accounts, and required submissions.
- Track job costs, benchmarks, budgets, and schedules; identify and address variances.
- Own submittals, samples, tests, drawings, inspections, close‑out, and overall project documentation.
- Assist team members, support professional development, and stay current on industry standards and best practices.
Qualifications
- 2-year college degree required; 4-year college degree preferred.
- Desirable study concentration in engineering or construction management.
- 2-4 years successful project management with a construction company.
- Experienced in estimating, job costing and managing profitability.
- Experienced in managing projects and deadlines.
- Displays strong written and oral communication skills; effective listener.
- Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills.
