Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager Scheduler supports the profitable delivery of electrical and technology construction projects by effectively managing manpower, materials, and financials. Reporting to senior construction leadership, this role coordinates project planning and scheduling, oversees documentation and change management, and ensures that safety, quality, and customer expectations are consistently met. The position focuses heavily on data center projects and requires strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills to keep projects on time, within budget, and aligned with scope and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support overall project delivery by managing manpower, materials, and money for electrical and technology construction projects, with a focus on data center work.
  • Promote and uphold safety and quality control standards across all assigned projects.
  • Direct and coordinate the efforts of team members to establish accurate project budgets and cost estimates.
  • Delegate appropriate tasks and project activities to the Project Coordinator and other team members to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Manage labor volume for field resources, including understanding the types and levels of resources required at each project phase.
  • Establish, organize, and maintain project documentation in prescribed formats, and provide clear and timely information to team members and stakeholders.
  • Draft and submit contract change proposals, and manage contract and subcontract changes when project scope, schedule, or conditions require adjustments.
  • Collaborate with field workers, owners, general contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve work procedures, concerns, and construction issues.
  • Submit product, material, and service data to customers for review and approval, and coordinate approved items to the project site for timely installation.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate project planning and tracking tools, and monitor progress against milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate material deliveries to the construction site to align with project schedules and installation needs.
  • Manage project financials, including partial and final billing, in cooperation with the Accounting department.
  • Conduct project closeout activities and follow up to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements, documenting best practices and tools for future project execution.
  • Build, develop, and maintain business relationships that are vital to the success of the organization and ongoing project opportunities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop leads into project opportunities, secure new projects, and manage customer accounts to support business growth.
  • Acquire necessary resources and coordinate the efforts of internal team members, third-party vendors, and subcontractors to deliver projects according to plans and specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) activities, Job Productivity Assurance and Control (JPAC), and Short Interval Scheduling (SIS) to plan and track work effectively.
  • Manipulate and extract data from project planning and tracking software to support reporting, forecasting, and decision-making.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, or willingness to learn, Agile Construction principles and apply them to commercial construction and estimation activities.

Essential Skills

  • Proven project experience with a company in the mechanical or electrical construction market.
  • Demonstrated strength in people management, including coordinating field resources and project teams.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and money management as they relate to project financials and billing.
  • Knowledge of electrical materials and their purchase costs to support accurate budgeting and procurement.
  • Experience with low voltage systems and related technology in a construction environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact positively and professionally with internal teams, customers, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with a systematic approach to managing documentation, schedules, and priorities.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office, with particular strength in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to use project planning and tracking software to schedule work, monitor progress, and extract data for analysis.
  • Familiarity with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) activities, Job Productivity Assurance and Control (JPAC), and Short Interval Scheduling (SIS), or the ability to quickly learn these methods.
  • Understanding of commercial construction and estimation processes, or a clear willingness to develop this knowledge.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality control on all projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in data center construction projects or similar complex commercial environments.
  • Experience managing contract and subcontract changes, including drafting and submitting change proposals.
  • Ability to build and nurture customer relationships and convert leads into project opportunities.
  • Experience coordinating third-party vendors and subcontractors to meet project plans and specifications.
  • Exposure to Agile Construction principles and interest in applying continuous improvement methods to project delivery.
  • Ability to conduct project closeout reviews and document lessons learned, best practices, and process improvements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate with field personnel, owners, general contractors, and design professionals to resolve construction issues.
  • Comfort working with financial data related to project costs, forecasts, and billing.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Menomonee Falls, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $33.65/hr.
