The Axel Group is partnering with a well-established and growing development-focused division within a leading sitework contractor. This team specializes in the early stages of land development, including due diligence, entitlements, and preconstruction planning. Working closely with developers, municipalities, and design consultants, the group plays a critical role in advancing projects from initial concept through approvals and into construction. This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the full development lifecycle while contributing to high-impact projects across the region.


The Assistant Project Manager will support the planning and execution of land development and preconstruction activities across multiple projects. This role will work closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and municipalities to help advance projects through the planning, permitting, and early construction phases.



Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with the coordination and execution of land development projects

• Track project schedules, budgets, and documentation throughout the planning and entitlement process

• Coordinate with civil engineers, surveyors, environmental consultants, and design teams

• Support the preparation and submission of permits and approvals with local municipalities and agencies

• Review site plans, engineering drawings, and project specifications

• Assist in managing project documentation, reports, and contract materials

• Participate in project meetings and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders

• Monitor project timelines and help ensure milestones and deliverables are met

• Support due diligence efforts for new development opportunities


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred

• 1–5 years of experience in land development, civil engineering, sitework, or construction project coordination

• Familiarity with site plans, civil drawings, and development processes

• Experience working with municipalities, permitting processes, or land development projects is a plus

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management or design software is a plus
