Job Description

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects by working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and clients. This role plays a critical part in day-to-day project operations, including documentation, subcontractor coordination, cost tracking, and schedule support. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who is eager to grow within a technically sophisticated general contracting and construction management environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the day-to-day management of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Support coordination between field operations, subcontractors, design teams, and owners to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Participate in project meetings, including subcontractor coordination meetings and owner update meetings, and document key decisions and action items.
  • Assist with preparing bid packages, performing scope reviews, and supporting subcontractor evaluations during preconstruction and buyout.
  • Help analyze subcontractor bids and support the subcontractor buyout and contract award processes.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and design-phase coordination as needed to identify issues early and support project success.
  • Track Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change requests, and other project documentation to ensure timely responses and accurate records.
  • Assist with developing and updating project schedules, budgets, and cost reports in coordination with the project team.
  • Support the review and processing of subcontractor pay applications and invoices to maintain accurate cost control.
  • Maintain organized and accurate project files within Procore or similar construction management platforms.
  • Coordinate material submittals, deliveries, and procurement tracking to support field operations and project schedules.
  • Assist with punch-list management, inspections, and project closeout activities, including commissioning, turnover, and owner closeout requirements.
Essential Skills
  • 2–5+ years of experience working for a General Contractor or Construction Manager.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, contracts, and basic project controls.
  • Proficiency with Procore for project documentation and coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to track and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed project records.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a project team in a general contracting or construction management setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using MS Project for schedule support and tracking.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Experience with Bluebeam for document review and markup.
  • Familiarity with construction estimation processes and tools.
  • Experience working with RFIs, submittals, and change orders in Procore or similar platforms.
  • Interest in long-term career growth within a growing construction organization.

Work Environment

This position is based in the office five days a week, with only occasional visits to project sites as needed. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative construction environment that leverages tools such as Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office to manage complex projects. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Berlin, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $44.00/hr.
