A Day in the Life of the Assistant Manager

In this role, you’ll help oversee the day-to-day operations of a high-end pet resort while supporting both staff and clients. You’ll work closely with leadership to ensure pets receive exceptional care, operations run smoothly, and team members stay motivated and supported. This is a highly interactive, hands-on leadership position where you’ll actively work alongside the team across multiple departments.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with daily operations including front desk, kennel, and grooming coordination
  • Support and lead team members during shifts
  • Train, onboard, coach, and develop staff
  • Help manage scheduling, staffing coverage, and payroll accuracy
  • Maintain inventory levels and place supply orders
  • Support hiring and employee onboarding processes
  • Ensure clear communication between departments
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and pet care
  • Monitor pet health and escalate concerns when necessary
  • Step in wherever needed to support resort operations


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience
  • Experience in pet care, veterinary, boarding, daycare, or related environments
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable managing both pets and people
  • Weekend availability required
  • Reliable, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure
  • Training or team development experience is a plus
