Assistant Director of Nursing

Greeley County Health Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support nursing leadership in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. As a key member of the leadership team, the ADON will assist in overseeing daily nursing operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a positive, collaborative environment for staff in our rural community hospital. 

 

This is a full-time forty (40) hours per week position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

                       

Surgery duties: Cross-trains to be able to fill in surgical nurse roles, including scrub, circulating, and recovery. Ensures adequate staffing coverage for surgery days, working as needed. Schedules surgical patients, coordinates OR schedule for other services in the OR (pain management, etc.), conducts follow-up patient phone calls, inventories and monitors surgical supply needs, ordering as directed, works closely with the General Surgeon and team to ensure quality care, efficient scheduling, etc. Develops policies and procedures and protocols as needed to ensure consistent practices, quality, and safety. Communicates with housekeeping and other support departments to ensure adequate quality and efficiency in the OR. Communicates and circulates OR schedule changes across the organization. Reports the needs of the surgical program to the Director and/or Administration. 

 

Pharmacy duties: Assists the Director of Nursing with the following pharmacy management functions as needed: 

      -Prepares meeting notes for quarterly pharmacy meeting

      -Prepares a yearly inventory of the medication 

      -Maintains the formulary of the pharmacy in the electronic health record

      -Tracks and notifies the pharmacy of license renewals 

      -Monitors medications being dispensed and makes sure charges are attached. 

      -Orders medications when stock is low

      -Returns medications when expiration dates are due

      -Checks for outdated medications monthly

      -Destroys medications with the pharmacist when on-site

      -Counts narcotics with the pharmacist when on site

      -Checks and removes medications when there is a recall

      -Maintains Registered Nurse access to the pharmacy 

-Provides needed information to the pharmacy inspector when on-site. 


Education and/or Experience

Minimum of five years of previous experience as a working Nurse (LPN or RN) in related roles (required)

Current Kansas State RN license (required)

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Nursing from a four-year College or university (preferred)

Two to Five years of nursing leadership experience (preferred)
