Job Title: Assistant Director of Nursing (Internal Medicine Surgery)

A leading hospital system is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to support leadership of nursing operations within the Internal Medicine Surgery division. This is a high-impact leadership role for a clinically strong RN with proven supervisory experience who is passionate about nursing excellence, staff development, and quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services and education programs
- Help develop nursing policies, objectives, standards, and administrative procedures
- Assist with personnel, supply, and equipment budgeting
- Oversee nursing service delivery within a major clinical division
- Direct and support Nurse Supervisors and nursing staff
- Participate in selection, placement, and follow-up of patients transitioning to home care when applicable
- Assist in planning and conducting nursing education programs
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives, chart reviews, and patient care evaluations
- Conduct nursing rounds and assess overall service effectiveness
- Prepare daily and periodic administrative reports
- Lead and chair regular staff meetings
- May oversee evening and night tour nursing operations
Qualifications
- Active New York State RN License
- Master’s degree in nursing (Administration, Education, Clinical Specialty, or related field) with 5 years nursing experience, including 3 years in a supervisory or teaching role
- OR
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with 6 years nursing experience, including 4 years in a supervisory or teaching role
- Strong leadership, clinical judgment, and operational nursing experience
- Experience in Internal Medicine, Surgical Services, or Acute Care preferred
