Assistant Controller
Job Description
This senior-level accounting position is designed for a high-performing senior Accountant ready to expand their scope and develop into a future managerial role. The Junior Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations while taking increasing ownership of close processes, payroll, commissions, reconciliations, and reporting. This role is hands-on and visible, providing a clear growth path towards managerial-level responsibility.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
•Support monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis
•Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, cash, and balance sheet schedules
•Assist with preparation of internal financial statements and management reports
•Support payroll and commission processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely recording
•Help enforce accounting policies, documentation standards, and internal controls
•Assist with audit requests, regulatory reporting, and tax support as needed
•Identify process inefficiencies and assist with improvements and automation
•Serve as backup for core accounting functions during peak periods
Essential Skills
-Bachelors Degree (Accounting or Finance preferred)
-5+ Years experience
-Managerial Experience (Team of 3)
-Manufacturing Industry (Cost Accounting)
Work Environment
The position operates in a typical office setting with working hours from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5:30 PM. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, requiring a professional who can work independently while maintaining attention to detail.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashburn, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52.89 - $67.31/hr.
