Come and join J.P. Morgan Asset Management -Real Estate Americas as an analyst program member focused on the U.S. Real Estate Debt Capital Markets team. The Debt Capital Markets team focuses on procuring secured and unsecured debt for its domestic real estate funds. The team oversees $20B of outstanding debt (gross) and sources $5-10B of commercial mortgage loans annually. This position is located in New York, NY and is seeking candidates with a maximum of 1 - 2 years of experience for the role.

Job Summary

In this role you will be supporting Deal Officers in all aspects of the debt procurement process. This includes developing strategy alongside investment teams and working on all loan types include: bridge loans, construction loans, lines of credit, and permanent loans. The right candidate will also work on preparing IC memo slides and presenting loan recommendations to senior management, reviewing marketing materials and debt offering memos, creating and maintaining financial models for investment levered returns, analyzing bids, preparing approvals for portfolio manager and investment committee review, and reviewing term sheets and loan documentation on new and existing deals

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist in the deal maintenance/closing process which includes interaction with joint venture partners, brokers, lenders, third party report providers, title companies, insurance consultants and legal counsel.
  • Provide internal debt guidance on market terms to deal teams to be used in underwriting and investment committee memos.
  • Prepare financial analyses for loan modifications, extensions, and sales reviewing for compliance with covenants and financing hurdles.
  • Maintain deal pipeline, and related systems
  • Lead hedge procurement process and assist in improving business processes
  • Prepare and present quarterly debt updates to the fund / portfolio management teams that include market updates, strategy recommendations, and financing risks and exposures.
  • Participate in property inspections and market tours, including travel as needed

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Candidate possesses at least six months to one year of experience in commercial real estate areas of which could include finance, banking, equity, and management
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Passionate about commercial real estate and debt capital markets
  • Relationship maker with ability to nurture relationships both internally and externally
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, independent of supervision
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for cash flow modeling, including inputs used to create real estate cash flows. Knowledge of Argus AE and Powerpoint a plus.
  • Ideal candidate is a critical thinker who can synthesize information, prioritize assignments and execute tasks on time
