Job Title: Sub-Assembly Technician / Assembly Worker
Job Description

The Sub-Assembly Technician assembles mechanical and electromechanical sub-components used in finished products within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires careful adherence to detailed work instructions and assembly drawings, safe and accurate use of hand and power tools, consistent attention to quality, and active support of production flow and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical and electromechanical sub-components according to work instructions, drawings, and bills of material (BOM).
  • Perform mechanical fastening, basic wiring, and light electrical assembly as required by the build specifications.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and basic measuring equipment safely and accurately.
  • Inspect sub-assemblies during and after assembly to verify quality, fit, and function.
  • Identify defects, missing components, or quality issues and promptly escalate them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints, schematics, assembly diagrams, and BOMs to ensure correct assembly.
  • Follow step-by-step work instructions without deviation to consistently build products to specification.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S principles and safety standards.
  • Meet daily and weekly production targets while upholding quality and safety expectations.
  • Complete required production and quality documentation accurately and on time.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices when applicable.
  • Support cross-training efforts and assist other assembly or production areas as needed to maintain workflow.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or sub-assembly (preferred but strongly beneficial).
  • Proven ability to assemble components accurately using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions and assembly drawings.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with fasteners, torque requirements, and part fitment.
  • Comfort working with basic wiring and light electrical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and bills of material (BOMs).
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset.
  • Capability to perform visual and functional inspections to identify miswires, loose hardware, or incorrect parts.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs as required by the role.
  • Consistent ability to maintain quality standards while working at a production pace.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with electromechanical or control panel sub-assemblies.
  • Basic wiring or soldering experience in a production setting.
  • Experience working in ISO, UL, or other quality-controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Prior experience in electronics, industrial manufacturing, or OEM production.
  • Understanding of how individual sub-assemblies impact the performance of the final product.
  • Ability to recognize missing or incorrect components and take corrective action.
  • Willingness to participate in cross-training and support multiple areas within production.
  • Openness to on-the-job training and continuous skill development.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
