This role requires mechanical aptitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to cross-train across multiple assembly functions.

Responsibilities

  • Put together cooler sub-assemblies, add caps, ensure proper alignment, and run units through the press machine according to established procedures.
  • Conduct quality checks on pressed units, including testing with air pressure after the press operation to confirm proper performance.
  • Pack finished coolers into shipping containers in a safe, organized, and efficient manner.
  • Remove plates after assemblies are pinned and pressed, and handle tubes as they move through the oven zone according to process requirements.
  • Work in the Bundle Department as needed, setting up baffles into fixtures according to work orders and production schedules.
  • Use calipers to accurately measure the distance between end baffles and copper tube ends, ensuring all measurements meet specifications.
  • Apply glue with a glue gun in line with work order requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Insert cores into castings and prepare assemblies for the pinning and pressing process.
  • Maintain accurate records related to production, downtime, quality, maintenance, and other required operational data.
  • Visually inspect work and use measuring devices to ensure all quality standards are consistently met.
  • Keep the work area, equipment, machines, and tools clean, orderly, and free of hazards at all times.
  • Perform necessary computer transactions in various computer applications and software programs to record production and quality information.
  • Collaborate with team members in cell groups of 3 to 6 people, supporting cross-training and flexible work assignments.
  • Follow all safety procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and contribute to an ergonomically safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties and miscellaneous job assignments as directed by leadership or designated personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Good hand dexterity and the ability to work effectively with both hands.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as tape measures and calipers accurately.
  • Safety-conscious mindset and consistent adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to cross-train in multiple assembly functions and departments.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a cell-based production environment.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous direct manufacturing assembly experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience reading basic blueprints, mechanical drawings, or schematics is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly processes, pinning, pressing, and oven-zone operations is helpful.
  • Comfort using computer applications and software programs to complete basic transactions and record data.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills in a production setting.
