Job Title: 3rd shift Assembler

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling subcomponents and finished products in a fast-paced, clean, and well-organized manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble subcomponents and finished products according to established procedures and production requirements.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to assemble and fit metal products accurately.
  • Review and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and diagrams to determine parts, quantities, and proper placement.
  • Measure and verify components using a tape measure to ensure correct dimensions and alignment.
  • Participate in fast-paced production and assembly activities to meet daily order and output targets.
  • Lift components weighing 60 pounds or more to fit and assemble products as required.
  • Collaborate with a team member to fulfill daily product orders and meet production deadlines.
  • Perform regular lifting, climbing, standing, walking, and arm extension for extended periods during the shift.
  • Use hands frequently to handle, position, and operate hand tools, power tools, and related equipment.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and 5S-oriented work area.
  • Participate in training to develop into a unit builder capable of handling more complex assembly tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in an assembly, mechanical, or manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, diagrams, and schematics to determine parts, quantities, and placement.
  • Skill in using a tape measure accurately to verify dimensions and ensure proper fit.
  • Capability to operate an overhead crane or willingness to learn overhead crane operation for moving larger units.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production and assembly environment with defined output goals.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, including lifting 40 pounds or more independently, on a regular basis.
  • Physical ability to regularly walk, sit, stand, climb, reach, and extend arms for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity to use hands frequently and operate hand tools, power tools, and related equipment safely.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of how components fit and work together.
  • High school diploma or GED by the time of permanent conversion, with the option to obtain a GED through the company-sponsored program.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in assembly, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with building or assembling metal products or heat exchangers.
  • Experience working with gaskets, sheet metal, or similar materials.
  • Comfort working closely with a partner or small team to complete daily production goals.
  • Willingness to learn and be trained into a more advanced unit builder role.
  • Ability to follow 5S and lean manufacturing practices in a structured environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Work Environment

The role is based on a clean, organized, and spacious manufacturing floor where all sections are clearly labeled by materials and production stages. The facility is climate-controlled, neat, and highly focused on 5S and workplace organization. Work involves standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching for extended periods, as well as frequent use of hand and power tools and overhead crane equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
