Job Description

The Assembly Technician assembles small to large electric motors and rotor components using hand tools and soldering equipment while following detailed blueprints and wiring schematics. The role involves working with small electronic parts, performing visual inspections at every stage of production, and using a computer system to document work and maintain accurate inventory records. You may work under a microscope or lighted magnifying glass to ensure precision and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble small to large electric motor and rotor parts using hand tools and soldering tools.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, mechanical drawings, and wiring schematics to complete assemblies accurately.
  • Perform electronic assembly tasks on smaller parts with close attention to detail.
  • Use microscopes or lighted magnifying glasses when required to assemble and inspect small components.
  • Conduct visual inspections throughout all stages of the assembly process to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Operate basic production and assembly equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Use a computer to document work performed, record production data, and control and track inventory.
  • Handle mechanical and electrical components safely and correctly during assembly.
  • Follow established production procedures, quality standards, and safety guidelines in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of prior electronic assembly experience.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, mechanical drawings, and wiring schematics.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Capability to perform visual inspections throughout the assembly process.
  • Basic computer skills to document work and manage inventory in a production system.
  • Ability to work in a production/assembly environment with consistent processes and standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • J-Standard certification or familiarity with J-Standard soldering practices is preferred but not required.
  • Experience operating production or assembly machinery is beneficial.
  • Comfort working under a microscope or lighted magnifying glass for detailed assembly and inspection tasks.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production and assembly environment featuring a large, open floor plan with strong ventilation. You will work at assembly stations using hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, microscopes, and lighted magnifying glasses, along with computer terminals for documentation and inventory control. The setting supports focused, hands-on work with small electronic and mechanical components in a clean, organized manufacturing space.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Ulm, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
