Job Title: Assembly Technician

Job Description

As an assembly technician, you will play a crucial role in building the metal frames of large switchboards in a production bay. Your responsibilities will include full assembly and basic wire harness assembly on each unit. You will begin your tasks at a workbench with a tape measure and blueprint, focusing solely on assembly and wiring. This position involves repetitive assembly work with provided materials and a workstation to measure parts, using hand tools to construct custom switchboards per customer requests. Once assembly is complete, you will use a simple schematic to assemble a wire harness and mount it on the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Build metal frames of large switchboards in a production bay.
  • Complete full assembly and basic wire harness assembly on each unit.
  • Measure parts and use hand tools to build custom switchboards according to blueprints.
  • Ensure the quality of assembly by maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Use a simple schematic to assemble and mount wire harnesses on units.

Essential Skills

  • High attention to detail.
  • Previous assembly experience in a manufacturing environment or solid mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and use a power drill.
  • Experience reading blueprints is preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs as needed.
  • Willingness to work at heights up to 90 inches off the ground.
  • Comfortable with being in awkward or uncomfortable positions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with small parts assembly and wiring while reading a blueprint.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have own steel toes or composite toes footwear.

Work Environment

Work on the first shift from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with little to no overtime required. The shop is exceptionally clean and bright, providing a quiet work environment where the loudest noise comes from an occasional power drill. Employees can wear jeans and sweatshirts as the attire is casual. Personal protective equipment such as steel toes, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection in certain areas is required. This individual-focused work requires self-motivation but offers independence once training is completed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monticello, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
