Job Description

The Assembler works under close supervision in a manufacturing environment to perform repetitive assembly and testing operations on pumps, service kits, motors, drive couplings, and related components. This role includes refurbishing pumps and sub-assemblies, assembling high-precision products made from materials such as stainless steel, ceramics, and plastics like acrylic and PEEK, and packaging finished components using the appropriate fixtures and tooling. The position requires careful attention to detail, adherence to written procedures, and consistent quality in a clean, production-focused setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform bench assembly operations on pump heads, service kits, motors, drive housings, and related components in a repetitive, production-oriented environment.
• Refurbish units, bypass components, and sub-assemblies, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.
• Check assemblies for proper fit, making adjustments and replacing parts and components as required to ensure correct operation.
• Test pump and motor assemblies using written test procedures and established specifications.
• Rework faulty pump and motor assemblies by identifying issues, replacing defective parts, and retesting as necessary.
• Read and fully understand product sketches, drawings, MCDs, and PCDs to accurately assemble and test products.
• Perform preventive maintenance on test equipment, including gauges, flow meters, and test stands, to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
• Transport parts to be tested and move completed parts to the appropriate area for shipping, stocking, or further processing.
• Determine product rejects for rework or scrap, complete required documentation, and follow established quality procedures.
• Participate in organizing and supporting statistical quality control activities to maintain and improve product quality.
• Assemble high-precision products made from stainless steel, ceramics, and plastics such as acrylic and PEEK, following all handling and cleanliness requirements.
• Use appropriate hand tools and fixtures to assemble, adjust, and secure components in accordance with work instructions.
• Perform work in a cleanroom or controlled environment when required, maintaining cleanliness and contamination control standards.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned to support production, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Capability to read fine graduations on micrometers and other precision measurement devices.
• Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with small parts and mechanical assemblies.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Visual acuity suitable for close detail work, including microscope inspection, operating tools and machinery, and using measurement devices.
• Ability to perform visual inspection involving small defects and parts.
• Ability to read and interpret product sketches, drawings, MCDs, and PCDs.
• Comfort using hand tools and basic production tools in a repetitive assembly setting.

Work Environment

The work environment is a manufacturing and production setting focused on building and optimizing fluidic pathway components and solutions. Product lines include column hardware, degassers, fluidic connections, manifolds, pumps, pump components, sensors, and valves. Work may take place at a bench and in a cleanroom or controlled environment, requiring attention to cleanliness and contamination control. The role involves regular use of hand tools, test equipment such as gauges, flow meters, and test stands, and measurement devices including micrometers. The environment emphasizes precision, quality, and adherence to documented procedures in a structured production workflow.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middleborough, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
