Job Description

This hands-on assembler role focuses on building chiller units for data centers and custom equipment in a modern, climate-controlled production environment. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to assemble components, support general shop operations, and collaborate with a small, close‑knit team to meet daily production goals. As you gain experience, you will have opportunities to cross-train into additional assembly areas and expand your mechanical and electrical skill set.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble chiller units for data center applications by following detailed work instructions and build specifications.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively during assembly tasks.
  • Read and interpret basic blueprints and schematics to guide assembly work as needed.
  • Assist with general shop and production support, including sweeping and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Shrink wrap and package materials or completed units to prepare them for storage or shipment.
  • Handle materials and perform clean-up tasks to support other assemblers and keep production moving efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with the assembly team to meet or exceed daily production goals.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, quality standards, and company procedures at all times.
  • Participate in cross-training over time, including learning custom unit assembly and other production areas.
  • Communicate proactively with team members and supervisors about progress, issues, or needed support.
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1–2 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in sheet metal or mechanical assembly.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, build specifications, and basic blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical assembly processes in a shop or warehouse setting.
  • Ability to work safely around machinery and tools while following safety procedures.
  • Strong work ethic, motivation to learn, and reliability in attendance and performance.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate to meet production goals.
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks and standing, walking, and moving materials throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1+ years of manufacturing experience, with 3+ years of sheet metal or mechanical assembly experience preferred for higher-level pay tiers.
  • Experience in HVAC or related manufacturing industries is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication, including the ability to fabricate sheet metal components, is a plus.
  • Exposure to electrical work, including reading schematics and performing basic wiring, is beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and electrical schematics for assembly and wiring tasks.
  • Demonstrated stability in work history, with a desire to grow and develop long term within one company.
  • Positive attitude, strong willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for contributing to a fun, team-oriented culture.
  • Comfort participating in a collaborative, energetic environment where team interaction and communication are valued.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, brand-new, climate-controlled warehouse with windows and high ceilings, where machines and assembly areas are organized within the open production floor. You will work on a small, close-knit team in a setting where leadership treats everyone like family and fosters a supportive, fun atmosphere with holiday parties and employee appreciation events. The facility includes a canteen snack bar, recreational amenities such as a golf simulator, foosball table, popcorn machine, and a workout room, as well as periodic visits from a massage provider. First shift runs Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with one 30-minute lunch and two paid 10-minute breaks. Second shift runs Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., also with one 30-minute lunch and two paid 10-minute breaks. The dress code is casual, with steel-toe boots required for safety. The position will start at a Maple Grove site and transition to a Dayton site once that facility opens, supporting both HVAC and data center business operations in modern, well-maintained buildings.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maple Grove, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
